Winmail Viewer - Open dat file App Reviews

53 Customer Reviews:

When getting a winmail.dat file in the mail, I couldnt figure out how to open it. I searched it on Google and find some people recommend this app. So I purchased and downloaded it. Well, just as they commented, its fast and easy to use. All the contained files can be opened and exported out. Thanks!

I have to cope with plenty of winmail files in my inbox and this winmail viewer is great for just glancing at the mysterious files parked in the winmail.dat attachment. And you can export and save the contained files on your Mac with just a click. Overall it’s a solid little app and doesn’t cost much at all for what it gives you.

This app does an excellent job of pulling out and making accessible files locked into winmail.dat attachments. It opens immediately when you click on a winmail.dat attachment. Once open, it works pretty intuitively, opening up Excel, PDF, or Word documents directly in those applications just by double-clicking the file. One can also save a file directly into a folder in Finder with the Save button. My one complaint is that you must do this one file at a time. It would be much better if one could select multiple files and save them with one click, nor can you click-&-drag the files; they must be Saved.

I rarely comment or wrote review, but i feel obligated to endorse this app. Simply put, this is the best viewer. This software can be downloaded easily and used. It occupies very little disk space and takes very little RAM to function. The simple layout is an added advantage.

I have many commercial customers and I receive a lot of emails sent by them every day. Those emails contain so may important attachments. We use different kinds of email, so I cant open some winmail.dat files from outlook user sometimes. It was really horrible when I was in a hurry to use those files. Fortunately, I found this savior and it helped me solve this problem. It can open win mail.dat files without any loss. I dont have to worry about this problem anymore.

This app unfortunately does nothing. Double clicking on a downloaded winmail.dat file, or clicking on one in an email just opens the app window. No matter what I do, I cant get it to open the original attachment. Not sure whats different about me as others have obviously got it working 100%. I’ll be asking Apple for a refund. Does what it says

Great little app. Simple task, but great help. Also doesn’t hurt it was on sale for .99. Best .99 I ever spent. Thanks guys!

Like others when I open a .dat attachment I get the TNEF attachment has not data. So, I tried TNEF’s Enough - no problem. Guess I’ll stick with TNEF’s Enough.

Bought this app looking to solve the problem of receiving winmail.dat files from clients using PC’s and outlook, but it is not working for me, have tried to open many winmail.dat files and none work, mostly they go trough the winmail viewer app to TextEdit and all I get is nonsense like this: ˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇÚÌÍWÛËflêÒÌÈ-ˇˇˇNÌfl’ꉋ÷)ˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇÿÕ√X˚ÛÏêˇˇˇ&ÎÊ·WÚˇêˆÛÒ.ˇˇˇ˜ıÚcª£éê∆¥•êÎÊ·flÆêwˇên^°öÉÉ|ú}f€õqMˇ⁄ŒƒB͉fi`≥öÉê™èyê∆¥¶êØñÇêÃΩ∞ê»∑®êŒΩØê˜ıÙÏÁ·aÃπ©ê∫•ìêÓȰŒ¿¥ñ∫•ìêŒæ∞°¯ˆı¸˚˙i¡¨öê∂†ç°µùäï⁄œ∆êˇˇˇÎ·~Õª¨îø´öêÊflÿ°Ë·⁄îØñÉê§âqêúÆê±ôÖê¬ØûëÀª≠¢æ™ö샱°êÚÓÏõˇˇˇˇˇˇz…∂ßêØñÅ£∏¢è•œ¿¥ãˇˇˇˇˇˇ€–«Ñ≤ôÑë¨ì}¢¥õáìÁ‡⁄ǡˇˇÂ‹÷ì≈≤¢íƒ±°ë„⁄”§◊À¿£æ™ôëÀ∫¨í‡◊œ¢¡Æûë≈≥•ìÔÎÁ¢÷…øë¢Ñoêµûãê»∑©ê≥öÖêfl÷ÕxˆÛ∑†éë≈ So I’m pretty frustrated with winmail viewer app not working.

Rubish

Useless app as could not open winmail.dat unless in TNEF format, whatever that means ######

Hummingbird1963 · 11 years ago

it opened the document but it was illegible because all the extraneous commands and formatting was still there. I found no instructions to follow as to how to use it.

Not bad app

It is a tiny yet capable app, helps me quickly open several files at a time, pretty convenient, and easy-to-use.

I have one friend that sends me a window attachement every couple of months. Just a funny thing and nothing serious. So I was just looking for an inexpensive way to read her little notes. I thought 99 cents would be just right for me to pay since I live on SS. Of course it DOES NOT WORK. If I drag the file from my Mac’s email onto the window they provide it does nothing. So I suppose they want me to pay more. Maybe I didn’t read the fine print but you know it’s just misleading and wrong. I WANT MY 99 CENTS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!
